Final PreGrade Post...

Please send me back to firts year, I wanna live the career again :(

Today the hability to know english is very important, but I think that I don't have succesful habilities to read papers (to the thesis, for example) or books (in the last vídeo I talk that I'm thinking to buy a book in english, because right now it don't have spanish translation).

In the university I did two english courses: level 3 and level 4. I know that's necessary more speaking practice, because in that activities you need to think very fast what you would like to say and translate to english language to communicate your idea. In writing you have more time to think or translate the ideas, but I think that isn't very good because in real life you don't have too much time to thnk or translate your ideas.

I wanna do the english like a second mother language for me, but I don't have too much places to speak. I will be grateful if in english class we could have more speaking practice.

Outside the english class the only place tat I have to practice is Instagram. I have a little page when I talk about my knowledge and I gve my opinion about healthy life and personal development. Sometimes people send me DM in english and I respond in the same language and I would like to responde faster, but sometimes I need to translate the answer and I don't like that.
But I try to understand and respond only in english with no translate.

Tennis Practice

Today I will talk about a tennis experience that I lived almost six years ago, in 2012, when I retired to the school to make an effort to be a professional tennis player.
The the photography was taken in the fifth court for the Club Sirio Unido, and you can see three persons: Rodrigo Cortés, sports psychologist that in that time he was doing his university practice in this Tennis Academy. Next to Rodrigo you can see Nicolás Massú, the only man to won two gold medals in the same Olympic Games (that happened in Athens, 2004). Next to him, was me.

I don´t remember who take the photo but was when Nico and me finish the training session. It was taken because Rodrigo needed it for his thesis document. It was on November, and the hour was between 4:00 and 5:00 pm. In the moment I wasn't very emocionated with the photo, but now I would have a better attitude.
At that time, I didn't know how important that situation was in my life.

That day, we train for two intensitive tennis hours following the Horacio De La Peña instructions. He was a demanding coach, and he didn't tolerate mistakes. I remember that day I was nervous. My mouth went dry a few minutes after starting the training.

Right now I'm retired for the high tennis competition. The sport is good option to have a healthy life, but not a very good idea if you wanna got a high prize money. Whatever, good experiencie.

UChile Psychology 2.0

Interesting topic, and I have to say 5 things about that:

  1. FACSO building ir very traditional (is old, but traditional sounds better), tha clasrooms are very hot, and uncomfortable. "I expected more for the best psychology school in the country" I said on my mind my first class day.
  2. Five years is too much, perfectly we could learn the fundamental psychology things on four or three (in this case, very difficult, but challenging) years.
  3. About the classes, I can understand why we don't use high technology in psychology, but I can't understand why the University didn't teach us to use that to promote our services when we graduated... Oh, I forgot that find a job after you graduate is very easy 😂
  4. The teaching methods are imporvable (means 'mejorable' in spanish). The teachers don't have teachers studies. That say a lot of their improvised teaching methods. But one positive point is the motivation that a few teachers have for their pregrade class.
  5. Finally, we need less theory and more practice. We have a lot of sheet courses, I will not say which because all of us know it. Maybe in this type of courses we learned a lot of beautiful ideas... but I wanna know how I can do my job better, and I only know that we have one cognitive - conductual course. I prefer to have more psychology knowledge instead of beautiful but unless ideas in my mind.

If you don't agree with this ideas, you can write on the comments box why and we could discuss our ideas 💕

The studying/training holiday

Holiday is an expected time from me this year, because have a list of things that I would like to do, and this is:

  • Waking up at 5.30 am → sometimes it result on the "academic part" of the year, but is not a good idea for me until vacations.
  • 5/7 training → this year I have 7 subjets + english (because the last semester reprove Juridic Psychology and can't took 5 optative subjets, the U gave me only three) and the time is value right now, for this I can't training more then twice a week. The idea is came back to train 5 times a week on holiday.
  • Financial Studies and other readings → Recently I started my thesis, and for that I suspend my personal studies and reading (for example, the financial studies) to read about the thesis topic. It's frustating because I enjoy a lot learning about finance and personal growth (Ryan Holiday is my favorite writer, but coaching and influencers texts don't fall behind). I hope holiday lets me return to read on my preciated home library.
  • Instagram account → One of my hobbies si to write about fitness knowledge on a Instagram account five times a week, but recently I have neglected the page. The idea is return to write value contest on holiday.
Maybe I take a few time to travel out of Santiago, but not to much time... It would make me feel guilty.

A lot of options: one way...

I thought about the post graduate studies, but it's a confusing topic from me right now.
I was thinking about an university exchange, because a few weeks ago I talked with Pablo Rojas about the option to do the next year professional grade formation on Sport Psychology in Andrés Bello or USACH university... but he said to me you can't do this.

F*ck*ng university, I have resentment with this university and I don't have problems to admit this.
The institution used me with a client: I pay for the 'service' and they give the (improvable) 'product'. It's a bad deal, but I haven't a lot of good options to choose, unless on 2012 I had talking english to won a sport USA scholarship. That never happened. I'm here with you writing this blog.
Nothing to do.

Only learn from the past mistakes and try to anticipate the future mistakes to probability bands to reduce the speculation mistake. The business knowledge is very usefull in the "real life"... I know that you don't trust me, but I prefer to see and learn about other mistakes to do with myself and fail.
You are free to choose. Choose the smart way.

Right now the priority is to obtain the aprobation to do the Sports Psychology professional grade formation. After thet, time and other variables will show me the way.

The US1 million dollar work...

Very interesting topic form today, the final question abuot all professionals careers:
Where are you going to work?
I have a lot of possibles jobs in the future: sports psychologist, first clinical inverview, sports coaching, financial advisor (haha this option is fake, bercause the investment world is very hard and volatile, but I wanna know how works the money to grow my current and futures savings).

Sports psychology is an unknow area into psychology, because is very new compared to other areas.
The work of the sports psychologist try to make some mental changes on athletes that let's show their best performance in competitions, but without technical/tactical changes.

Today the limit between sports coaching and sports psychology is confused, because a lot of persons (that not have the psychology degree) are offering their coaching services in the sports market. This situation is dangerous for the atheltes mental health, because if you don't have psychology formation you could damage them and you will never know this.

But, if you have psychology university studies you can make a coaching degree and you will be the best person to work in sports world.

I'm thinking to make the "practice" in this area, but not sure to work in sports psychology.
All depends the growing oportunities, the money that can ear and the relevance of my services in the place when I will going to work.

Tennis player: Do you belive me?

That ↑ was my first option. I know that isn't a common career choice. Is very strange to see a person who can live for his prize money earned on tournaments and competitions around the world.

Particularly, be a tennis player is difficult because you need to play very very well and you need to spend a lot of money for the trainings, foods, vitamins, gym, travels, kinesiologhy, etc. |
😿
I wanna be on the sport world and all of my career choices was linked to that. At the end of 2014 I had 4 career options: personal trainer, nutritionist, kinesiology and psychology.

  1. The first one was a good option, but I don't choose because I said "you need to use your PSU mark to study a career on the line to that mark"... I know, very bad way of thinking... beginner mistake.
  2. I dismiss immediately the nutritionist option because they don't work frequently and face to face to the sportsman. Now you can check with apps and you only need to see the sportsman once or twice a year.
  3. Kinesiology was a good option, but in the work market you can find a lot of kinesiologist. That makes me dismiss this option.
  4. Finally, I choose psychology because the sports psychologist work once or twice a week with the athletes, and that lets me stay into the sport world frequently, and I like that.
